Donne eats her words.

Remember how Donne made fun of me about the fireplace in our hotel room?

The sun! Blue sky! Welcome back, friends!

The sun came out this afternoon! I was optimistic that it would make an appearance today. Donne was not. So, I win. Ha! Here are some pictures (as proof!) of Laguna Beach. And as you'll see, we went in the pool today as well! And there's one of Donne updating the blog - just so you can really picture us while you read!

About the bathroom thing...

Donne lies. However, when you drink 3 gallons or so of Coke (not something I'm proud of, but it was all in my SeaWorld souvenir cup!), you do tend to need to go a lot.

Also, World War 3 is just a little bit of an exaggeration. Donne just simply does not always go in the direction that I'm pointing. She is directionally challenged.

Odds and Ends...

Hey all... a quick hello from Donne :)
Just a few lines to let you all know that Im still alive... First thing is first, driving... I now understand how it is possible for 2 people to be perfectly happy one minute, but the second you chuck them in a car together and ask them to get from point A to point B, world war 3 breaks out! It has been agreed that its a great thing Charlotte turns 25 next year... as theres no way Im driving in this country again!!
A few things Ive learnt about Charlotte and Id like to share with you all... she needs the bathroom every 30 minutes! And Im not exagerating!! I feel confident I have tried out every possible bathroom in Southern California. Another Charlotte fact... she is Decisionally Challenged! Ive never met a person who changes her mind SO many times when making simple choices like what to eat for dinner...
But all that aside.. shes a great travel buddy! I wake up in the morning and ask, 'whats planned for today' .. she seems to know the right way ALL THE TIME, which is actually kinda irritating...

Right... as my French Vanilla coffee (the best thing about this country!) is now getting cold, Im gonna climb into bed and pass out soon as its passed my bedtime (9pm!!)

Laguna Beach

Well today was a nice lazy day (which is why we have time to post a couple of blogs!!) A bit about Laguna Beach... Its a beautiful little seaside resort, which seems to revolve around 2 things... the beach, and art! And as it turns out, if the sun does not shine in this place, then nobody comes out! Luckily the sun made a brief appearance at round 1:43pm (I know this time because its when we were waiting for the bus and Charlotte was being chatted up by some American bloke chewing gum).

Now with a place called Laguna Beach, one would assume a nice walk on the sand, with an ice cream in hand might be easy enough... not so! An approximate total of 76 minutes was spent searching for ice cream yesterday afternoon!! What seaside resort does not sell ice cream?!?! We had to settle with a second rate store bought ice cream, which was purchased at a Liquor Store of all places, cos nowhere else was open! Welcome to California!!

Where has the sun gone?

The sun has gone away :( Today is the first day that the sun has not been out. Hopefully it will come out later! Here are some photos from San Diego.

Disneyland and SeaWorld and all places inbetween!

We are now in San Diego and have reached the half way point of our holiday. We spent the last couple of days in Disneyland and today we went to SeaWorld. Here are some photos for your viewing pleasure!

Today marks a momentous occasion. Donne announced that she has 'maybe reached her Coke intake limit'.

Our time in LA is about to come to an end and tomorrow we are off the Disneyland (which Donne has reminded me 12 times today). We've had loads of fun and here are some pictures from the last few days (just in case, the photo in the post below is us sitting on the Friends sofa on the WB tour):


Charlotte's hands are almost the same size as Johnny Depp's. His are small, not the other way around.

The weather has been pretty good and yesterday it was warm enough to go in the pool (although Donne was a wuss and wouldn't come in). She did, however, manage to get sunburnt on the open top bus tour of Hollywood we went on.


Today we went to Santa Monica and Venice Beach. Santa Monica was very pretty with good shopping, while Venice Beach was very artsy and kind of funky. Every second shop on the boardwalk was a tattoo parlour. Look at the pretty palms with Santa Monica Pier behind them!

An update - The Coke Situation

6.10pm. Donne has her first and only (so far) Coke of the day. Progress.

The Coke Situation.

In approximately 7 minutes, we will mark the 8th hour of the day since we woke up that Donne has gone without Coca Cola (or Sprite). I think that might be a record.

We have arrived!!

After about 18 hours of travelling, we have arrived! The flight was a fun 10 hours, followed by a scenic tour around Los Angeles Airport while the plane waited to get on stand. And then we got very familiar with the immigration hall, as we stood in line almost an hour to get through immigration - because where is the logic in having more than two immigration officers dealing with the 500 people long non-US citizens line, while having 5 people dealing with the 70 people US citizens line?

The hotel is totally groovy and has just about the most comfortable beds in the world.

Donne nearly crashed the rental car yesterday, but more on that later. Don't worry, it probably would have only been a minor scrape!

Packing

Donné is having a few problems packing... After laughing at Charlotte today at the number of items she intends taking, Donné seems to have the same problem! As you can see, the suitcase is pretty much full, and Donné still has so much to add. But the biggest tragedy is the fact that Donné STILL cant find her Mickey ears! *shock horror* This might delay the trip as she refuses to leave without them...

Dont be sad...

Because Charlotte and Donné know how much you will miss them, here are their smilling faces to cheer you up!!

Highlight of the day... Donné and Charlotte drag Caroline off to the post office to buy dollars!!!

Of course Charlotte, being super organised, bought hers on the weekend...

As you can imagine, the excitement levels have reached an all time high with such activities!!!
